Website
Willie reported to the meeting that we had had 3,400 hits in the past month, more than 300 of them had been new visitors. Most visits Most visits were made to the History page which has been updated today.
Willie also asked that members be explicit about information, events they wanted published on the web; if only a newsletter is sent then he will not know what is to be included. It would be easier for him if members could send him an email with the information attached, or send it by post.
It was agreed that we should include a 'healing page' with a description of what we understand is 'spiritual healing' and 'distant healing' together with a question and answer on healing.
It was also agreed that the current résumé together with the dates of forthcoming meetings, as well as an invitation to attend a meeting, should be put on the web.
Willie reminded us that if we don't contribute to the website then there simply won't be anything on it. So it is up to all of us to give him information and anything of interest.
Misrepresentation & Misunderstanding
It has come to our notice that another Association is suggesting, on their website, that anyone seeking a Healer should ensure that the Healer is a member of UK Healers and there is a popular belief doing the rounds that unless you are a member of BAHA, SNU, NFSH or UK Healers then you cannot work as a healer in a hospital. All of which appears to be misleading, divisive and not true.
Some hospices are not willing to employ Healers because apparently the term 'healer' implies that there will be a cure; Reflexology is acceptable. However should a patient request Healing, whether the patient is in either a hospice or hospital, they cannot be refused.
Norfolk Healers apparently have joined UK Healers as have The Pilgrim Healers although they have not notified us of the change.
Friendly Group Leaflet
It was felt that the F.G. needs to be a little more pro-active and therefore we really need to finalise our leaflet so that it can be distributed. Paula (HCASH) offered to finish it as Jan is very busy with her new job. It was agreed that the font should be changed, and the columns rearranged. On the centre pages will be a Question & Answer on Healing. When it is complete Paula will email to all those who have PC's and when approved it can be sent by post the other members so that they can photocopy.
Information
It was agreed that at next year's meeting we would bring information on associations' training programmes and other information on healing that we use to share with one another. SHA gave each of us a copy of their new question and answer leaflet on healing.
Home Counties Celebration
Hcash, has just celebrated 50 years of being a healing association this year and to share their celebration we were presented with commemoration book marker. Congratulations!
Healers 2006
Glennis queried a situation regarding the insurance of one of her members who bought her yearly insurance half way through the insurance year and the insurance cover was then back dated to the commencement of the annual cover. (i.e. a member bought insurance in August and it was then backdated to April which is the commencement date set by the IRCS insurance company.) I don't think I need to spell out the implications if this is the case; with a member possibly having some form of undisclosed and ongoing litigation in the period before obtaining insurance cover. Dave volunteered to investigate the situation on both FG's and Glennis' behalf.
Balens insures Healers from Jan 1st to December 31st however anyone who buys insurance sometime during that year will have their insurance dated from the time it was bought and running to Dec 31. Incidentally, should you have a problem with obtaining a copy of the insurance certificate from a member, Balens will supply you with a copy.
Courses
Glennis also invited FG to attend any of her courses for £5.00 Please send a SAE for the relevant work and CD. For information on courses see Healers 2006 website.
SWA
Since the Ayr meeting in July there have been all sorts of mismanagement and behaviour that is seriously questionable. Trustees have been suspended without consultation or agreement of the Round Table.
The constitution has been amended without consultation to such an extent that the insurance company who were insuring SWA members has cancelled its policy. Those who are insured with Western Scotland Insurance have now been insured by an alternative independent insurance company.
There is £2,500 in a bank account that should be returned to the members who are insured but no one is able to open the account.
Bill has resigned as the Treasurer and as a member of the Round Table and I will resign also which means that the Friendly Group is no longer a member.
"In the light of what has and is occurring within the SWA, I as the coordinator of the Friendly Group of Healer Associations am resigning from the Round Table."
The lady who has been the victim in all this is now suing Carole McEntee for libel and slander.
The National Council of Voluntary Organisations.
Thanks to Sid who continues to have his finger on the pulse we looked at the work they were doing and their credentials. We shall be discussing the merits of this organisation at next year's meeting and would be interested in hearing your views and thoughts. Just Google the name and you will be able to look at their information.
Jon, (Sussex), who we all hope is recovering well from his op sent a copy of a letter from the Jewish Ass of Healers.
UK Healers Training Programme
Dave received Part 5 of the training programme created by UK Healers. There appears to be a lot of assumptions made and even veiled threats. It may be a worthwhile exercise to refresh our memories by familiarising ourselves once again with the White paper in the House of Lords a few years ago.
Other
The Italian theme for our lunch was a great success - thank you all you wonderful cooks and an even bigger thanks to Mary and the Kitchen Angels for all their hard work looking after us. Thank you to you Bill for being such a wonderful host and photocopier.
Last and by no means least thank you all for making the effort to be there — you are wonderful.
The meeting closed at approximately 2.45pm.
The next meeting will be on 21 March 2009 (the Spring Equinox) and we have decided that since the 'fish 'n chips' across the road are great then we are having a fish 'n chip lunch. Since we have all agreed that pudding is a must, we'll bring the dessert. Please let me know if you are unable to attend.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a joyous New Year
Love and Blessings, Margaret
